GRAPHIC DESIGN FOR THE PUBLIC
COMMUNICATION, ACCESS, AND CIVIC EXPERIENCE

Issue No. 44 of Progetto Grafico invites contributions that critically explore the role of graphic design, visual communication, and information design within the public sector. The issue considers communication design as a crucial interface between institutions and citizens, shaping how people access services, understand information, navigate public systems, and participate in civic and social life.

The call particularly welcomes research addressing accessibility and inclusion, digital transformation and the growing complexity of public information systems, the design and evaluation of physical and digital interfaces, institutional identity and visual coherence, and multimodal forms of public communication. It also encourages critical reflection on the ethical and political responsibilities of design and on its potential to foster clarity, transparency, trust, and more effective relationships between citizens and public institutions.

Contributions may include scientific articles, case studies and applied research, historical investigations, as well as scientific communication artefacts such as infographics, maps, experimental visualisations, videos, and interactive representations.
